As one of America’s premier tourist destinations, Miami has a whole lot to offer. Sun, sand, and surf are the obvious choices, at least as far as daytime activities are concerned. And while one can certainly garner an impressive suntan here, beaches just aren’t all that exciting. Sure, they can be, but many people go to the beach to relax. Besides, it’s not as if Miami has a monopoly on beaches; prime oceanfront property can be found all over Florida. Where Miami stands out is in its nightlife: the vibrant culture, the opulent clubs, and party goers of both local and international fame.
Ensconced in the Fontainebleau resort and hotel is the exclusive LIV nightclub, a relative newcomer to the South Beach party scene. This upscale club came into being as part of the historic hotel’s recent billion dollar renovations. LIV is quite a stunning venue, visually speaking. No expense was spared in its construction and decoration, and the club offers up a smorgasbord of tasty treats for the eye. With loads of cutting edge lighting and posh decor, this version of the historic Fontainebleau hotel and its resident club may be a bit more techno-centric and flashy than were previous incarnations, but LIV brings a level of energy that is more often associated with the frenetic pace of life in Las Vegas than with the Deep South and its laid-back reputation.
Lovers of classy libations and great music now have this posh venue in which to peruse the finer things in life. Vast in size yet surprisingly open, LIV is a dream come true for the performance-prone, as well as for any voyeur who enjoys watching them. The club’s open interior allows for a great view of the spacious dance floor from almost anywhere on its three levels. LIV is the perfect place to see or be seen, a favorite of stars, great dancers, and fans of great dance.
Of course, not everyone is an exhibitionist at heart. LIV also offers VIP areas with bottle service and mini-bars. If the raucous dance floor is not your style, a more low-key time can be had in one of LIV’s six private skyboxes. If spectating is more your style than spectacle-making, the private rooms offer unimpeded views of all your fellow clubgoers. LIV may be a little bit off of the main “club row” of South Beach, which makes it more of a choice destination than a random stop. Above all, remember to dress to impress, because even on slow nights this place can be hard to get into.
