Tucked away behind shades of greenery, on highway A1A, Le Tub Restaurant is truly a secret retreat for few lucky one’s who know where to find it. Internationally famous for its mouthwatering hamburger, this informal saloon type establishment has few signposts and is easily missed. Actually, it has become famous from word of mouth. The restaurant had been in the town for nearly 32 years, before gaining recognition in Oprah Winfrey Show and named the most delicious hamburger in America. Now, it is frequently featured in a number of TV shows, magazines and other media.
The restaurant focuses on providing a select number of dishes including burgers, salads, fish, chips and a choice of well cooked fresh seafood. Besides hamburger, Le Tub is proud to offer a number of specially prepared delicacies that are not to be found, elsewhere. Visitors are also attracted by its famous Gumbo the House Salad Dressing and tasty, Key Lime Pie. Popular with locals is Chili, a dish made from ground sirloin and added to an assortment of seasonings, peppers, onions and tomatoes. For health conscious there is nothing better than Seafood Salad, prepared from fresh seafood and marinated in herb dressing. Likewise, Mozzarella Sticks, Smoked Fish Dip, Mexican Salsa, Tortilla Chips and Smoked Fish Dips make up other sumptuous meals.
From outside, the restaurant is carved with a variety of sea peculiarities which combine with wooden and thatched structures, to offer quiet retreat from busy Miami lifestyle. The inside is no different, either. Like an informal salon, the place echoes fond memories of Miami’s popular decades. Licensed plates, fishing nets, old pictures are present alongside pool table, dart and an old jukebox. Situated on inter-coastal waterway, most people prefer to come by boats.
Perhaps, one of the features which distinguishes La Tub is its philosophy to offer quality service at reasonable cost. Since gaining immense popularity, the owners have not tried to raise their price nor mass advertised the property. Visitors will be hard pressed to find any dish over $20. In fact, most are less than $10. Although, La Tub restaurant is officially open 365 days until late at night but unlike other popular eateries, it is never overcrowd. Children are not allowed after 8 o’ clock. The seating is outside where great views of North Lake and Hollywood district offers great place to enjoy a delicious meal, amidst cool Atlantic breeze.
