A new activity available to South Beach visitors are Decobikes. They are named after the prominent art deco styled architecture across Miami Beach. These bikes are for anyone to rent in by the hour or by the day and cruise through the city or down to the beach.
These bikes aren’t just your average, every day, bikes. They have been fully customized. The frames are constructed from sturdy, yet very light, aluminum. They also feature hand brakes. The seats and kick stand are adjustable. They also have an old school bell attached to ring and a very roomy basket to carry items. What really makes these bikes stand out is the software they use for tracking. The software knows who is riding the bike and can even compute the carbon emissions saved from riding the bike.
If the carbon offset tracking doesn’t make you feel green enough then the rental and sharing stations should. The renting stations are all solar powered. There are lots of places set up throughout the city where you can rent one. Best of all, you can get one 24 hours per day 7 days per week.
All you need to do is swipe either your BeachPass or credit card, select the length of rental time, and ride away. You can select 30, 60, or 120 minute increments. You may keep the bike longer but additional fees will be applied. You can rent up to 2 bikes on a debit or credit card at a time. You can rent a Decobike from one particular docking station and return it to another. Just be sure that it is firmly locked into place when you return it before you leave.
Thanks to a Decobike, you can ride around South Beach in style, help save the environment, and get some exercise all at once. Best of all, you can do this no matter what time of day or night it is. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a local or a tourist, riding a Decobike will help you to enjoy the city and beach in ways driving a car around could never accomplish.
