Miami Swimwear Fashion Week

It’s finally here at last. The annual skin bearing extravaganza appropriately dubbed “The Miami Swim Shows.” Although that is not the official moniker for this event, it most accurately described this week long flesh ogling party. Along with the fashion shows with the endless parade of models strutting their stuff up and down the runway, there are parties and get togethers at every major hotel along the entire South Beach strip. For the sixth year in a row, designers have descended upon this most idyllic place to show off new creations in time for the 2011 summer swimsuit season.

Starting on Wednesday, July 14th, there is a live event sponsored by Miami Magazine. It is hosted by LIV at the Fountainbleau in Miami beach, with a huge crowed scheduled to attend the 3rd annual soiree of beach attire and beautiful people. The initial 400 people through the doors will receive a bonus gift containing the brands that help to support this event. The show starts promptly at 10 pm with early entrance beginning at 9 pm. Tickets only through RSVP.

Wednesday through Sunday will feature a bevy of Funkshion Swim Shows Miami, with renowned designers such as Roberto Cavalli and Inca showcasing their new lines. Major sponsors such as sports car manufacturer Lamborghini and ladies magazine Cosmopolitan are just some of the companies that will be represented here. Each show will allow the first 100 people to get in free if they RSVP online in advance.

On Saturday and Sunday, 30 retailers will be displaying their wares in a tent located between the West South Beach hotel and the Setai hotel situated on Collins Avenue. Further information is avialable online at

The 28th SwimShow will be held this year at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Manufacturers and buyers mark this on their calendars as this event has major influence on what beach goers will be wearing for the next several years.

At the Raleigh Hotel, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim will also host their own swimsuit display. Although hardly anyone is in love with this name, the designer labels represented are pretty impressive. Past exhibitors include Ed Hardy And True Religion, with many of them teaming up to put on a rather spectacular run way exhibition.

Finally, the Salon Allure boutique show on West South Beach will host an interesting blend of fashion and business professionals. An assortment of clothing including swim suits, clothing and lingerie will be showcased for high end buyers. This session is highly looked forward to each year with big names such as Diesel and Ivanna Cert in attendance. There is probably no better place to find such a mix of professionals at this type of party.
