Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival

The 12th annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival bursts onto the scene this April. This festival actually combines with the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival to create a monster sized event. Spread throughout Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale, this critically acclaimed film festival is based in the world famous historic area of South Beach, and screens gay and lesbian films at theaters throughout Miami-Dade county and Fort Lauderdale.

The festival kicks off in Fort Lauderdale with the wild comedy King Size, followed by a king sized after party, co-sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign. The Opening Night Gala is held in Miami on Friday night, just after the Miami films begin with Patrick, 1.5, a fun-loving film about a gay couple and their unusual adoption.

The Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival runs Thursday, April 23rd through Sunday, May 3rd, 2010. In that week and a half the hottest new gay and lesbian films will be screened, with 36 movies playing in seven different theaters around Miami, and 12 playing at the Gateway Theater in Fort Lauderdale. From heart wrenching AIDS documentaries, to hysterical romantic comedies, from a heartfelt tribute to the iconic Bea Arthur, to a special engagement, live, one-man show by the irreverent John Waters, this festival has it all!
